The world has gone online. That’s not to say the high street has completely gone, not just yet anyway – there are still betting shops, thrift stores and gold buyers – but it’s on the way out. But as the world of online business heats up, so does the level of competition, and that’s why you need to embrace the age-old adage of: knowledge is power.
That’s where we swoop in (wearing our bright red cape and matching mask) because we’ve pulled together a few bits of advice (read: a process of doing things) that will all-but guarantee success for everyone, from side-hustler hopefuls to seasoned entrepreneurs. These hot tips are universally beneficial.
- Look At The Market
It can be way too tempting to look at your product before anything else, but it’s unwise. If you want to boost your chances of success, you need to look at the market first. You need to find an audience who have a problem, are looking for a solution, but can’t find one. That’s the gap you need to feel. That’s the solution you need to come up with.
- Write Great Words
There are no two ways of putting this: you need to write copy that sells. You need to write copy that intrigues, that arouses interest, that sells the solution you offer, that gives you credibility, connects with the reader, highlights the benefits and makes them click the buy button. You need to hire a creative copywriter. Someone that can write in such a way people will know their lives are better off with your product
- Be Friends With Google
When you operate online, and only online, you need to ask yourself, “does your business need SEO?” and then reply by yelling, “OF COURSE IT DOES”. This is how you will get found first. It’s something you need to think about when you’re designing your website, writing blogs, coming up with Facebook Ads, throwing your content on LinkedIn, creating videos to enhance your message and entering the mobile optimised world. You need to be thinking about Google all the time.
- Pay-Per-Click Advertising
There is no easier way to get people coming to your brand new site than through pay-per-click advertising. It’ easy and effective and stops you having to wait for things to happen organically. Not only will your ads show up first, you’ll also get to see what keywords have the biggest impact. This learning curve will help you massively.
- Become An Expert
The internet’s number one use is providing people with knowledge and information. That’s why you need to offer great advice and information on your own website, something that will dramatically increase your traffic and search engine rankings. So create articles, hire a freelance blogger, publish videos, and put it all on your social media channels too.
- Email Is Invaluable
One of the most overlooked, underrated and important assets you will own is the opt-in email list you have built up. It’s your customers and clients giving you permission to send them emails about your brand, the latest offers and all that stuff. These are your hot leads – make them count.
