If you are fresh out of college and are ready to get started on your new career, you might have some idea of what you would like to be. If you ask a group of young people, I’m sure the same-old answers will crop up. Things like teaching, becoming a doctor, or office work. But why follow the crowd when you can forge your way into another exciting career? There are loads of jobs that people rarely think about. Here are just a few ideas to get you thinking and inspired!
Become An Entrepreneur
Why join someone else’s company when you could just set up your very own business? This career path is becoming a lot more popular with young people now. Especially as the Internet is making it easier and easier to tap into international markets. It’s cheap to set up your own business as well. You can work from home at first and use cheap marketing solutions, such as social media. In the past, it was extremely hard work becoming an entrepreneur and there was little support available. However, these days there are a variety of support networks that help new companies gain finance and other help getting up and running.
Take A FIFO Job
FIFO stands for Fly In Fly Out. It relates to work which the workers are required to work on remote sites. Hence the name – they have to fly in for work and then fly back out to get home. There are different types of FIFO jobs, including working at sheep stations and oil stations. This type of work has gained some bad press in the past, but things are rapidly improving. Especially since there are now many benefits including fifo family support.
Become A Tutor
One of the main things that puts people off becoming a teacher is that they aren’t too confident in front of a large classroom of kids. However, if you don’t like the idea of standing up and speaking in front a big group of unruly children, you shouldn’t give up on working in education. Instead, you could become a tutor and focus on one-on-one tutor sessions. Many parents are always on the lookout for tutors who can help their children pass all their exams. So there is usually a really strong demand for tutors in all kinds of towns and cities.
Creative Educator
If you are an artist, designer, artisan or a crafter. You could following your passion by doing what you love. Bedside enjoying a creative life, why not become a creative educator and teach other creative souls. You could run workshops or classes to help other creatives with upskilling. We have artists who we work with are now running art classes or private art tuition. For running classes you can hire workshop space and joint venture with a business who had good data base to help you promote your workshop. If you are a cook, a baker your can also hire a kitchen demo space and running your classes. Work Abroad
Why stay in Australia when you can travel the world? In fact, you could even open up whole new career paths by travelling the globe. Head to one of Europe’s cosmopolitan cities and become a tour guide. This is a surprisingly easy line of work to get into. You just need to brush up on your knowledge of the city and be able to spin it into an entertaining city. There are lots of tour groups which you could join, or you could set up shop on your own.
Why stick to all the boring careers when you can work your way up one of these exciting options instead?
