Some people simply can’t get to grips with sitting at a desk and doing a conventional office job. If you’re one of those people, you might want to try a hands-on career that allows you to get out of the office and do something that’s a little more tactile and real. There are so many of these kinds of careers out there, so don’t assume that it’s something that’s out of your reach. It doesn’t have to be that way, so read on to find out about some of the hands-on jobs that could be perfect for you.
Mechanic
Working as a mechanic is a good way to find a career that helps you to work with your hands each and every day. Of course, you need to understand cars and how they work under the hood if this is something that you’re serious about considering as a career going forward. There are many things to learn, but it’s a lot of fun if you’re already a petrolhead.
Electrician
This is a career that you will need to be trained to do, but it’s not too late to dive into it if it’s something that you’re really interested in. Many people come to electrical work later in life after doing other things and then retraining. As long as you get that training and pass all the relevant qualifications, it can be a very fulfilling and well paid career to enter into.
Truck Driving
Truck driving is a career that you should definitely consider if you enjoy being on the road. It can be a well paid career path, and if you like the quiet isolation of being alone in your truck all day, it really is the job for you. You first need to get a heavy rigid truck licence, and that might take a little time. Don’t rush through the process because you’ll get to where you want to be quicker if you take your time to get things right.
Carpenting
Making things from nothing and seeing the end result of it can be massively satisfying for it. That’s the kind of thing you’ll be doing every day of the week if you decide to become a carpenter. It’s all about woodwork and being creative. Of course, there are many ways to make money as a carpenter, but lots of people remain self-employed and make things that they want to.
Chef
If food is your area of specialisation, you should definitely consider working as a chef. It might not be something that you’ve ever considered before, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not right for you. If you enjoy preparing food and everyone you’ve cooked for agrees you’re good at it, this could be the hands-on job for you.
There’s a career out there for everyone, so if you still haven’t found the one that’s right for you, it’s time for you to get out there and consider the options. All of these options are hands-on, so if you want to do something that allows you to make use of your hands each day, definitely consider these ideas.
