Twelve of the edgiest and funniest cartoonists are to be featured in an unique exhibition in Sydney later this month, it has been announced.
The ArtSHINE Gallery, in the city’s Chippendale Creative Precinct, will be given over to the talents of the artists as part of its Sydney Comic Art and Drawing Exhibition.
The exhibition will run from April 14 to April 30 and comprise the works of artists:
Geoffrey Goodes
Michael Graham
Yumi Patton
Nathan Seabolt
Laura Wellington
The exhibition will feature an opening evening at the Blackfriars Street gallery on Thursday April 16 from 7pm.
ArtSHINE Gallery co-founder Vinh Van said three floors of the Co-Sydney art and workspace building, which houses the gallery, would be dedicated to the exhibition.
He said: “This is the first time that we will be showcasing the talents of graphic artists and cartoonists together.
“It will be an interesting mix of artists from drawings and illustrations to comical art. Each artist brings a unique set of talents and styles and you can see how they express themselves through their art.
“The exhibition will span storytelling to fantasy and dark humour to futuristic themes similar to those in comic books. But the only way to discover their talents is to come and see the exhibition.”
He added: “What makes this show unique is that all the artists come from very different backgrounds, with self expression and life discovery through the medium of art.
“The ArtSHINE Gallery was only too happy to bring all their art into one space and, because it is edgy and fresh, it s bound to shock and humour the public.”
