When I was a child, my mother would tell stories beneath the warm glow of a single lamp — her voice soft, yet filled with worlds.
Each tale was alive: gods who built the heavens, goddesses who shaped the earth, dragons that swam through clouds, and heroes who carried both courage and doubt in their hearts.
These weren’t just bedtime stories.
They were windows into something deeper — the ancient rhythm of Chinese mythology, where creation and creativity were one and the same.
Those evenings planted seeds in me.
Years later, as a creative entrepreneur, and storyteller, I realised that what my mother was truly passing down wasn’t only myth — it was a way of seeing the world: with wonder, imagination, and purpose.
And that’s how this series — “Chinese Mythology & Creativity: The Tales My Mother Told Me” — was born.
Three Volumes, Infinite Lessons
Over the next 12 weeks, I’ll be sharing one mythology tale each week — twelve timeless stories, twelve creative reflections.
Each one holds a lesson about courage, balance, compassion, and transformation — lessons that every artist, designer, and dreamer can relate to.

To create is to shape worlds from nothing, just as Pan Gu did when he lifted Heaven from Earth.
