My Mother & I
Mother’s Day is only a week away.
For many people, it is a day filled with flowers, cards, phone calls, family lunches, and warm hugs. It is a day to say, “Thank you, Mum,” for all the things we often forget to say during the year.
However, for some of us, Mother’s Day also carries sadness.
This December will mark almost two years since my mother left us. Time has moved so quickly, but the love has not faded. In many ways, it feels like she is still here — in my thoughts, in my memories, and in the quiet moments when I wish I could hear her voice again.
We miss her terribly.
When someone we love so deeply is no longer physically with us, we begin to understand that love does not end. It changes shape. It becomes memory. It becomes strength. It becomes the voice inside us that says, “Keep going.” It becomes the warmth we carry in our hearts.
That is why I wrote “Mamma, You Are the One.”
This song is dedicated to my mum, but it is also dedicated to all mothers around the world.
Mothers give so much of themselves. They care for us day and night. They stand beside us through our good days and our difficult days. They see the best in us, even when we cannot see it ourselves. Their love is often quiet, but it is powerful. Their sacrifices are not always seen, but they shape who we become.
A mother’s unconditional love is something nothing can truly compare to.
It is the love that holds our hand when we are afraid.
It is the love that teaches us to stand again after we fall.
It is the love that becomes our home, no matter how far we travel.
It is the love that stays with us, even after goodbye.
The lyrics of the song came from a place of deep gratitude and longing:
“Mamma, you are the one,
Mamma, you care for me.
Day and night you’re by my side,
Forever you’re in my mind.”
These words are simple, but they carry so much truth.
When I think of my mother, I remember her care. I remember her presence. I remember the way she gave without asking for anything in return. Like many mothers, she showed love through action — through food, comfort, worry, guidance, and protection.
She was there through every storm and every sun.
In the chorus, the song says:
“Mamma, your love’s the light that guides me,
In your arms I found who I could be.”
That is what mothers do. They guide us. They help us become who we are. They give us the courage to face the world. Even when they are no longer beside us, the lessons they gave remain.
Their love becomes a light.
For those who still have their mothers with them, Mother’s Day is a beautiful reminder to pause and show appreciation. Call her. Visit her. Hold her hand. Tell her you love her. Do not wait for the perfect moment, because time moves faster than we think.
For those who have lost their mothers, Mother’s Day can be tender and emotional. It is okay to feel both love and sadness. It is okay to miss her. It is okay to cry. It is also okay to celebrate her life, her strength, her stories, and the love she left behind.
This song is my way of saying thank you.
Thank you, Mum, for your love.
Thank you for your care.
Thank you for your strength.
Thank you for being my heart, my home, and my sun.
And to all mothers around the world — thank you.
Your love shapes families.
Your love builds courage.
Your love gives comfort.
Your love lives on.
“Mamma, You Are the One” is more than a song. It is a message from the heart. It is a tribute to the women who raised us, protected us, believed in us, and loved us in ways words can never fully explain.
This Mother’s Day, may we remember the mothers beside us, the mothers far away, and the mothers watching over us in spirit.
Because a mother’s love never truly leaves.
It stays with us always.
Mamma, you are the one.
Mamma, You Are the One
(A song dedicated to all mothers around the world)
Verse 1
Mamma, you are the one,
Mamma, you care for me.
Day and night you’re by my side,
Forever you’re in my mind.
Through every storm and every sun,
You held my hand till the dark was gone.
Your voice, my peace, your smile, my home —
No matter where I roam.
Chorus
Mamma, your love’s the light that guides me,
In your arms I found who I could be.
Every heartbeat echoes your name,
Through joy and tears, it’s all the same.
Mamma, you are the one, my forever song,
Your love’s been with me all along.
Verse 2
You taught me how to stand so tall,
To rise again when I would fall.
Every lesson wrapped in grace,
Every hug a warm embrace.
You saw the best when I could not,
You gave me more than I ever thought.
Your gentle heart, my northern star,
You made me who I am.
Chorus
Mamma, your love’s the light that guides me,
In your arms I found who I could be.
Every heartbeat echoes your name,
Through joy and tears, it’s all the same.
Mamma, you are the one, my forever song,
Your love’s been with me all along.
Bridge
Through every season, near or far,
You’re always there, just where you are.
And when I dream, I see your face —
A love no time can erase.
Final Chorus
Mamma, your love’s the light that guides me,
In your heart, I found my melody.
Every moment, every prayer,
Your spirit whispers everywhere.
Mamma, you are the one,
My heart, my home, my sun —
Mamma, you are the one.
